Jump Distance
From the Burnout Paradise Wiki
Jump Distance is a stunt performed by covering as much distance as possible while jumping from a ramp. Distance, airtime, and the car being used determine the amount of boost earned from the stunt. A Speed Car gets less boost by jumping off a ramp than an Aggression Car and an Aggression Car gets less Boost than a Stunt Car would. Ramps are an essential part in most events (ramps allow a player to reach higher up places and shortcuts, useful for gaining boost in Marked Man and Race events), and are staples in Stunt Run events.
Mechanics
Burnout calculates jump distance based on seconds of airtime. Once a vehicle has been airborne for more than 1/2 (.5) seconds, a number will appear above the boost bar telling the player how long their vehicle has been in the air. In a stunt run, 1200 base points are awarded for a jump, with an additional 24 points awarded per .01 second in the air, rounded to the nearest ten after the jump is landed. The stunt run multiplier is calculated based on whole seconds in the air:
0-.99 seconds= no multiplier 1.00-1.99 seconds= +1 multiplier, 2.00-2.99 seconds= +2 multiplier, 3.00-3.99 seconds= +3 multiplier
While the amount of time in the air time is theoretically infinite, the practical limit is about 3.5 seconds, with full boost with the Montgomery Carbon Hawker off of the Rockridge Dam cliff high jump.
